Apple macOS High Sierra: Critical Security Update
Posted by Andrew McAllister on 29 November 2017 11:27 AM

Apple released a critical security update today in response to the discovery that the root password for macOS High Sierra could be easily compromised. We are not running macOS High Sierra on campus, and are not imaging computers with High Sierra. This only affects users who have administrative access to their own computers who upgraded.High Sierra

We're advising than any faculty, staff or student who updated their laptop to macOS High Sierra run the App Store to get today's security update.

If are currently running macOS Sierra (10.12), and did not upgrade your laptop to High Sierra, everything is fine and there is no action necessary on your part.

If you're confused about what OS you have go to Apple > About this Mac and check your OS version.
