IT Security: How to Find a Sender Email Address

Why check the sender email address?
The senders name and address is one of the easiest things to forge. Virtually anyone can send an email that looks like it's from firstname.lastname@example.org. IT Security and the OCAD U 365 team have put in place measures to detect and warn users when email originates from outside our institution but appears to be impersonating an internal user.
What this means is that every phishing and fraud attempt is going to have to use a different email address. eg. email@example.com, firstname.lastname@example.org (notice we replaced the "o" in ocad with a zero).
Many applications require different actions to reveal this information. This article will help you find the proper method for your device.
Outlook 2016/2018/2019/365 ProPlus for Windows or OS X and Outlook Online:
In Outlook, any external email address is shown in angle brackets next to the senders name. If there is no email address shown then it comes from an internal source and is more trustworthy. Please note: Internal accounts can be compromised. Internal origination is not a guarantee of trust.
Outlook for iOS (using an iPhone or iPad), or Outlook for Android:
To see the senders address here. Tap on the senders name:
The email address will appear beneath the senders name.
IT Services no longer officially supports using iOS Mail, OS X Mail/Calendar, or Android Mail for OCAD U 365 email. We now officially support only Microsoft Outlook and Outlook for iOS and Android for the best possible user experience.
Mail for iOS (using an iPhone or iPad):
To see the sender address in mail on iOS is a two step process. First you need to tap on the details button.
Now when the name is displayed in blue. Tap on the senders name.
The email address will be displayed in a separate panel.
Mail for OS X (using a Macintosh computer):
Under OS X Mail all you need to do is click on the displayed name.
The senders email address will appear in a drop down list.
Android users need to click on the "person" icon next to the senders name.
The sender address will appear on a separate panel.
