Enterprise ID: Why the change?

Adobe no longer uses serial numbers or redemption codes - they are fully subscription based. An Adobe Enterprise ID links your OCAD U identity to Adobe and authenticates your access to their apps and services.

Do I need to cancel my existing Adobe ID?

If you previously used a redemption code through https://ocadu.onthehub.com to activate a 1-year subscription on a personal or OCADU email account, you will need to cancel your current subscription to avoid potential charges by Adobe. If Adobe has your credit card information on file, they will charge your card once the subscription lapses from your previous redemption code.

Help! I'm having trouble with Adobe Acrobat.

Scroll towards the bottom of this article, after following the steps below to activate your subscription. 

How do I activate my Enterprise subscription if I have the Creative Cloud Desktop App already?

1.Click the Creative Cloud icon  in the menu bar (Mac) or taskbar notification area (Windows), to open the Creative Cloud desktop app. PC users can alternatively navigate to Windows logo and type 'Creative Cloud' in the search. 

2. Once the app is open: Click the profile icon in the upper-right corner of the app and then click Sign out.

3. Sign in again using your OCADU email address. You may be asked if this is a Personal Account or Company or School Account. Select Company or School Account.

4. You will automatically be re-directed to the OCADU authentication page you are familiar with. Login to your OCADU account. 

5. Update the Creative Cloud app if you are prompted to do so

6. You should now see all of the Adobe applications, and will be able to download/update your preferred apps as required.

How do I activate my Enterprise subscription if I do not have the Creative Cloud Desktop App?

  1. Download the Creative Cloud Desktop app install. Mac users click here. PC users click here
  2. Run the installation package. The Adobe Creative Cloud Desktop app will install and open. 
  3. You will be asked to sign in. Sign in using your OCADU email address. Sign In
  4. You may be asked if this is a Personal Account or Company or School Account. Select Company or School Account. 
  5. You will be re-directed to the OCADU authentication page you are familiar with. Login to your OCADU account.
  6. Update the Creative Cloud app, if you are prompted to do so.
  7. You should now see all of the Adobe applications, and will be able to download/update your preferred apps as required.

You will be presented with the OCAD U login page. Sign in with your OCAD U username and password.

Known Issue with Adobe Acrobat:

After activating your Adobe access via the methods above, you may still experience an issue where Adobe Acrobat runs as a trial. To resolve this issue:

1. Close the Adobe Acrobat Application. Mac - Right Click the application icon > "Quit" | Windows - Right click the application icon > "Close"

2. Open the Creative Cloud Desktop App and Look for 'Adobe Acrobat DC'. Download or Update the application as required. 

3. After downloading or updating Acrobat, select 'open' from the Adobe Creative Cloud App. Full access should be restored. 

 

How do I learn more about Creative Cloud?

Staff: How do I update/uninstall Adobe Creative Cloud apps on my OCAD U managed computer? 

You can use the Adobe Creative Cloud app to update / uninstall Adobe apps as needed without an Admin Override. If you find yourself not using many of them, you can simply uninstall them. If you are missing the Adobe Creative Cloud app OR have any questions, please email ithelp@ocadu.ca

HOW TO UPDATE ADOBE APPS: Simply click on the Update button on the tile that says “New”. When prompted, check off “Remove Older Version” this way you do not have duplicates of an app.

NOTE #1: If you are signing into the Adobe Creative Cloud app, you MAY be prompted to update it. Check off “Always keep up to date” and select Next. This will install the update, during which the app will close and open a few times in order to complete.

 

NOTE #2: If you get popups from Symantec Endpoint Protection regarding changes to Adobe, simply click Yes.

What is an Adobe ID?

Adobe ID is created, owned, and managed by the end user. Adobe performs the authentication and the end user manages the identity. Users retain complete control over files and data associated with their ID. Users can purchase additional products and services from Adobe. Admins invite users to join the organization, and can remove them. However, users cannot be locked out from their Adobe ID accounts. And the accounts can't be deleted or taken over by the admin.

Adobe has several ways to manage user identities with Creative Cloud. Up until September 2016, OCAD University has been distributing Redemption Codes which you can use to activate a Creative Cloud Subscription with an Adobe ID.

What is an Adobe Enterprise ID?

An Enterprise ID is created and owned by OCAD U, and linked to the OCAD U authentication system, so that you can use your same OCAD U username and password to log in to a service. 

There are some caveats to using an Adobe Enterprise ID, as it is a different and distinct identity from your personal Adobe ID.

  • Your access to Adobe Creative Cloud lasts for as long as you're a faculty or staff at OCAD U. We will refresh access to Adobe Creative Cloud on an annual basis.
  • When you sign in as an enterprise user, you're signing in as a new user created by your organization's administrator. You can think of this as a separate account, distinct from the one that you're currently using.
  • Data is associated with a user, and since an enterprise user is effectively a new user, such as design libraries, files, fonts, app settings, Adobe Color themes, and Behance portfolios are not automatically transferred to the Enterprise ID account. Data remains available with the personal Adobe ID account. If you need access to this data, it's necessary to manually migrate data between accounts.

Do students have Adobe Enterprise IDs?

NoWe are providing Adobe IDs to students. Students will access all the same great resources and apps.

What if I want to move my assets from an Adobe Enterprise ID to a personally held Adobe ID?

It is not possible to move assets, libraries or Behance profiles from an Enterprise ID to an Adobe ID, hence why we provisioned Adobe IDs for students. It is possible to do the reverse however:
